What lingers at the end of the day? What fleeting beauty made your soul stir? Did you feel the endless day stretch as light danced across empty walls?
Did you taste the dust of cherished memories?

Hi, I’m Helynn—photographer, artist, and storyteller. I don’t fit into a specific niche, and I prefer it that way. I’ve worked with brands like Airbnb, The New York Times, and Amprius Technologies, capturing everything from intimate portraits to cutting-edge innovations. But for me, the common thread isn’t what I photograph—it’s how. I specialize in dynamic lighting, texture, and mood, finding beauty in the in-between moments that often go unnoticed.

Photography is where all the pieces of my story come together. I was born in Colombia and immigrated to the U.S. when I was very young. Growing up, I often found myself caught between cultures—not fully fitting into the Hispanic community, nor able to completely assimilate into predominantly white spaces. That experience shaped my perspective—I learned to find meaning in transitions, in the quiet places where identity and belonging shift without warning.

Every project I take on—whether it’s for a brand, a publication, or a personal exploration—starts with connection. I’m drawn to stories, the kind that exist beneath the surface of people, places, and objects. Inspired by my family’s indigenous roots, I often think about how the physical and spiritual worlds overlap and aim to create images that feel timeless and grounded in both.

My work has been featured by TIME, The Wall Street Journal, Wired, and National Geographic. I’ve collaborated with both creative and technical clients—brands like Airbnb, Martha Stoumen Wines, and Amprius Technologies—developing imagery that helps tell their unique stories.

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m usually chasing after my two cattle dogs, Koa and Hilo. We hike through forests, get sandy at the beach, and sprint through agility courses—well, they sprint; I stumble along. I’m also a bit of a dog-training Nerd, so if that’s your thing too, say hello! (Bonus points if your dog can high-five.)

Creativity doesn’t exist in a vacuum. These dispatches go beyond photography—exploring the overlaps between work and life, the ideas that linger, the unexpected moments that shape my process. Some days, it’s about a recent shoot. Other days, it’s about the dogs, a book I can’t put down, or something that caught my attention in the world around me.
